I hope I can see Al Aqsa is liberated before death
Who is Mohammed Al Najjar?
My name is Mohammed Abed Khattab Al Najjar. I was born in Khan Younis city. I don’t know my exact date of birth, but I was told it was in 1927.
I lived with my parents in Khan Younis where I live till now. I could not study when I was child because there was just one school. However, I overcome this by self improvement.
I witnessed the British colonialism from 1927 till 1945. There were many colonies in Rafah till the end of the British colonialism in 1948.
How did you know the Islamic Brotherhood group?
I remember that in 1948 I was working in Al Areesh city and the man in charge was Mr. Kamel Al Shareef who joined the Islamic Brotherhood later.
In fact, I had no intention to join the movement; we were reading about them in the Egyptian newspapers which were talking about them.
What do you know about the members of the Islamic brotherhood in Palestine?
In 1948, I was introduced to Sheikh Mohammed Abu Syrdana, Naji Abdullah, both from Al Azhar institute, and Ahmed Farah. They believed in the Islamic Brotherhood theory, so they established a center for them with other volunteers like Sheikh Ayesh Al Najjar, Abed Essalam Al Farra, and others. This was my first work with the movement. Later on, we had some lessons in the masjid.
Then, I visited a camp for the Islamic Brotherhood mujahideen in Al Bureij where I was introduced to Sheikh Farghali. When I knew they came to Palestine because the Islam obliges them to do, I waned to join them. They told me: "Palestine is part of the Islamic land, so it is their duty as Muslims to defend Palestine".
Sheikh Hasan Al Banna camp with them and stayed in Palestine with the mujahideen until the Egyptian army came in 1948. Unfortunately, I did not meet Sheikh Hassan as some think.
How did you meet with Sheikh Ahmed Yassin?
I continued working with the Islamic Brotherhood. In that period I was introduced to Sheikh Ahmed, Abdel Fattah Dukhan and Abu Ayman Taha.
After Jamal Abel Nasser executed sheikh Farghali and his companions, a new movement emerged under the title "Hope movement" till 1967 war. Abedl Fattah Dukhan invited us for a meeting in his home. Sheikh Ahmed, Ibrahim Al Yazori, Hammad Al Hasanat, Abedl Rahman Temraz, Abu Ayman Taha, and others met together for the first time. We formed an administration for the strip and changed the name to the Islamic resistance movement "Hamas" because the Islamic Brotherhood was terrible at that time.
After this long path of work…what is your hope?
I pray to Allah not to let me die before I see Al Aqsa is liberated and the Islamic rule overshadows the whole world.
I pray to Allah for martyrdom.
