German mediator is serious
03-09-2009,11:48

Al Qassam Website - The Hamas movement confirmed once again the seriousness of the German mediator who has been mediating between the Palestinians and the Zionist occupation to complete the prisoner exchange deal.

The Islamic resistance movement Hamas added that the process continues, the German mediator travels between Zionist entity and Hamas regularly.

The full text of the interview:

1.  Are there any new contacts between the Western world and Hamas to strengthen the relationship between them in light of recent developments on the scene?

At the official level, there are still laws and legislations in the Congress and the European Union prevent contacts with Hamas, but non-State actors in the Western world is still continuing with Hamas movement, and I tell you that there was a meeting in the United States.

More than thirty international figures participated in discussing the issue of Hamas and making recommendations to the administration of President Obama.

After intensive meetings conducted by this group of international figures, they have made several recommendations, including:

First, that America made a big mistake not to recognize Hamas government and not to deal with it, the second; they said that Hamas does not pose a threat on European interests and American interests in the region.

It was a mistake to adopt the Zionist position about the prohibition to deal with Hamas or its government, and also the third conclusion was that Hamas is the main gate of the West to deal with the Sunni world, and was a major strategic error, demanding Hamas recognize Israel.

These three main features in addition to personal convictions we met with in the European arena and the informal arena of America push in the same direction. After Hamas won legislative elections in 2006, Europe and the Western world had to strengthen the democratic process in the region and say that it protects the democratic process; also, these figures believe it was a mistake not to open the doors to the Government, and then make decisions on the data in the case of continuity.

Now, there are European and Western convictions, including the issue of recognition, that Europe was mistaken in this case, in particular, they set conditions on Hamas without any requirements on the Zionist side, all these things we have heard from European Parties.

The Europeans say that in any future elections results, including the Hamas victory.

Europe will not repeat the error and not recognize the government, such as the national unity government or the tenth government, that the West will not close all windows and doors in the face of this government.

The West now believes that Hamas movement is basic part in the political process and any solution in the region will not exceed or bypassed Hamas.

It is necessary to deal with it, and create a space for communication and work with Hamas.

This belief is found among all Europeans, but due to the laws prohibiting dealings with Hamas, the official level prevents communication and openness to Hamas in a clear and explicit, but at the informal it is, and at the official level will be in the post, that is, change the official level will be based on data collected from the attitudes and advice and guidance from these non-official to official.

2.  How do you explain the contradiction, which was unveiled in recent days? Formal German mediator plays role to end the exchange deal between Hamas and the Zionist entity, while the official Germany is still considers Hamas a terrorist movement.

I have no information about the German mediation in the Shalit deal, but I think that such mediations occurred in the past.

Germany has mediated between the Zionist entity and Hezbollah, although the military wing of Hezbollah is a terrorist organization for Europeans, although Germany dealt with Hezbollah and achieved success in the recent exchange between the parties, and has found international fame in this area.

Therefore, we say that Germany does not have any relations with Hamas, but this mediation effort come in the interest of the region and the stability of the region as well.

3.  If elections were held in the Palestinian lands, who will be the winner in your opinion, Hamas or Fatah?

I think it is too early to talk about the election and its consequences and repercussions that will occur if this faction won or that.

We are in the Hamas movement with the principle of political partnership and peaceful transfer of power.

However, any election must be preceded by national reconciliation to give a chance to prepare for the upcoming elections in conditions along which the factions and parties can move to prepare the street and put the electoral and political agenda that it takes some time.

We need six months after reconciliation to move to activate the media and advertising campaigns for each party and faction nominates for this election, so it is premature to talk about any part could win the next election.

As well as we believe that future may reflect trends of the Palestinian street, which mean that there will be no faction singles win in a majority or be alone in forming the government.

I think that the Palestinian public is divided on so that this faction or the other cannot form a government alone, and therefore they might form consensus government or coalition government.

I believe that opportunities to be alone with the majority and thus form the government may become weak, and thus there will be a balance between two major factions Fatah and Hamas.

So that no one of them can form a government alone, it is likely that there will be strong opposition to any government that would affect the Palestinian rights and constants.

4.  What are the details of the issue of imposing the Islamic dress code on women lawyers in the Gaza Strip?

This case was probably endeavor by the President of the Supreme Judicial Council in an attempt to set dress codes for male and female lawyers according to the Basic Law. The matter was about the jurisprudence might have prompted a media storm, but it is over.

We are not talking about imposing veil or robes, but there is a certain dress customary for the lawyers, and he tried to strengthen the commitment of lawyers to this dress. The endeavor was understood incorrectly, unfortunately, was raised in the media incorrectly, now things are back to what it was, there are existing controls in the law, and all the referentiality is to the law.
