- Martyrdom way: Assassination
- Hebron city
- 2003-06-08
Name: Ala E’Deen Abdel-Rahman Abdel-Mun’em El-Fakhouri
Birth date: 15 February 1981
Martyrdom date: 8 June 2003
Hometown: Al-Khalil
Residence: Al-Khalil
Near the gates of the mosque, occupation soldiers were deployed to guard the settlers. Ala and Walid threw grenades and fired their rifles at the soldiers. Eyewitnesses stated that they saw the corpses of dead soldiers on the ground. And they say a soldier fall from the roof of a building used as an observation outpost.
Ala was born in Al-Hawooz neighborhood in the city of Al-Khalil on 15 February 1981. He was the 4th of the family’s 5 children. His family was an average family working hard to provide for itself. He studied elementary to secondary school in Al-Khalil. And he was known for his kindness and was loved by those who met him. His mother says that he was a very good son who was obedient and loving for his parents.
In addition, Ala exhibited bravery early on in his life. He participated in demonstrations and threw stones at soldiers as a kid. When grown ups blamed him for doing so, he replied that he liked to see soldiers faces when stones were thrown at them!
Secretive Soldier:
Ala’s mother says that no one noticed any political or military activity by Ala, even during the Intifada. But he was always pleased whenever an operation was carried out against the occupation. He told his mother that martyrs were chosen by Allah and that he wished he could be like them.
Ala opened a barbershop with fellow martyr Walid Ebeido. Both would carry out an operation against occupation soldiers 4 months later.
One week before the operation, occupation troops stopped Ala on his way home at night. A soldier told him, “Don’t stay out late at night. If you do, I’ll arrest you!” Little did that soldier know that Ala was embarking on a mission to retaliate against the injustice and crimes of the occupation!
Striking at the Occupation:
The Ibrahimi mosque in Al-Khalil was the sight of the gruesome massacre of Muslim worshippers in 1994. The settlers who perpetrated the crime were rewarded by restricting the access of Muslims to the mosque and giving more freedom to settlers.
On 8 Jun 2003, Ala E’Deen El-Fakhouri and Walid Ebeido entered the Old City in Al-Khalil and smuggled assault rifles and grenades close to the Ibrahimi mosque.
The remaining soldiers ran away and called reinforcements. A helicopter arrived and fired at the mujihideen. Ala died on the spot and Walid escaped to a nearby building, where he exchanged fire with the occupation army for hours before following Ala in martyrdom.
The occupation army announced the death of one soldier only! And they closed the old city for 45 days. And 6 months after the operation, occupation forces demolished Ala’s family home.
