UN report clear proofs of Israel's war crimes
Al Qassam website\ Agencies - Palestinian Prime Minister, Ismail Haniyya, stated Tuesday that the report of UN’s fact finding committee clearly indicts Israel of committing war crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Haniyya added that his government showed utmost cooperation with the investigation of the committee to enable it perform its duties and reveal what Israel did to Gaza during the war.
He added that the Palestinian people and the resistance were defending themselves while Israel continued its violations and attack.
The Hamas official also said that no one should compare between the limited and light arms the resistance uses in Gaza and that full military power and equipment used by the Israeli occupation.
“The Zionist army used nearly half of its air force in shelling Gaza, it used its navy and infantry brigades, and kept shelling Gaza for 22 days”, Haniyya said, “Nobody should draw a parallel between a nation defending itself under occupation and an entity that attacks them, resistance is an international guaranteed right”.
The UN committee accused Israel of committing war crimes during its war on Gaza, while Israel claimed the report was biased.
On Tuesday, Richard Goldstone, head of the UN committee, stated in a press conference that serious violations to the international humanitarian rights were committed in Gaza.
He also accused Israel of using excessive force against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Goldstone referred to Israel’s refusal to cooperate with the Un investigation, while Israel said that the UN Human Rights Council is biased as ‘it has a history of singling Israel out while ignoring Palestinian violations”.
1600 Palestinians were killed during the Israeli offensive, and thousands were injured.
In the same context, Ynet News reported that legal experts in Israel fear that the UN report on the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip could lead to private lawsuits against military personnel. The legal experts said that the findings of the reports might not have any immediate legal impacts as far as using them against Israel at the International Court of Justice, but will likely be used in filing private lawsuits against Israeli officials.
