Al Qassam website- Gaza- Israeli artillery and apache helicopters shelled on Wednesday noon, January 18th, 2012 an open area near the memorial statue east of Beit Hanoun north of the Gaza Strip.

 Al Qassam correspondent at north of the Gaza strip reported that Israeli helicopter has shelled Abu Safia area east of Beit Hanoun town with at least one missile and opened its heavy gunfire on the area extensively, in addition, Israeli artillery stationed on east of the Gaza border has shelled the same area with at least 10 shells, reason for Israeli escalation on the targeted area still unknown,meanwhile Adham Abu Silmeya the spokesman for the Abmulance and Emergency Services in Gaza said that two Palestinian citizens were killed in the Israeli attack on Beit Hanoun town, he identified one martyr as Mohammed Shaker Abu Odeh, while the other one is still unknown.
