Palestinian prisoners in Ofer threaten to escalate protests

RAMALLAH - Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli Ofer jail have threatened to refuse visits because of the Israeli humiliating treatment of their relatives wishing to visit them.

Local sources in Ramallah told the PIC reporter on Saturday that that relatives of those prisoners are forced to start their trek to the Israeli jail since 0500 am and are deliberately stalled at military roadblocks due to deliberate and humiliating treatment.

They said that the relatives always complain of ill-treatment during the visits, the first batch of which starts at 0100 pm, adding that the relatives usually return to their homes by midnight.

The sources said that the prisoners sent a message to the director of the Israeli prisons threatening to stop receiving visitors if the maltreatment against their relatives persisted.
