The Tolerant

Beit Hanoun

Name: Hassan Fayyad.

Resident: Beit Hanoun city.

Nick Name: The tolerant.

Sentenced: 27 Years.

He is the real hero whose ordeals usually strengthen him who don't know the meaning of despair.

Background:

Hassan Fayyad was born in 1981 in Beit Hanoun city in north Gaza. His father raised him on the ethics of Islam and morals of the holy book "Quran". He took his elementary, preparatory and secondary education in Beit Hanoun schools. Then he joined the Islamic university to study Fundamentals of Religion to know more about his religion.

During the study period, our prisoner was known with high morals and good behavior. He was very helpful for his fellow students and friends, he used to advise them. In the class, he was quiet, and he speaks very little; he respected his teachers and school.

He had an important role within the Islamic Block; he was participating in all events and works, and this did not decrease his marks; he succeeded to balance between his study and his work.

With his parents

Our prisoner had a special relation with his parents; he was very kind with them. Whenever they wanted something he did it at once. He used to help his mother in her house tasks that he became their beloved son. He was the second father for his family.

He also included his brothers and sisters in his kind treatment. He loved to see smiles on every face of his family members.

From the very beginning, Hassam knew his way to mosque; he received the basics of Islam from the sheikhs in his mosque. He participated in most of the events that were held by his mosque. Later he became one of Hamas members.

Arrest:

Hassan was kidnapped on Thursday 27/3/2003. The Zionist Special Forces surrounded his house at 2:30 am and closed the whole area. All this happened while Hassan and his family were sleeping. The shooting started, and the Zionist forces stormed the house and kidnapped Hassan at 5:45 am. The operation was supervised by the leader of the northern area in the Zionist army.

Trial ... The charges against the prisoner:

Hassan was provided to the Zionist court many times; he faced many charges. The most highlighted one is the belonging to Al-Qassam Brigades.

The Zionist court sentenced Hassam to 27 years.

The suffering of the captive's family

His family suffered a very severe condition like all the people of the Palestinian prisoners in the jails of the Zionist enemy. They were getting out from 4:00 am until 12:00 pm; however, the visit is 45 minutes only. During the rest hours, they were subjected to harsh condition of treatment and investigation. No one was allowed to visit him except his mother. Like all people in Gaza, his family had been prevented to visit him since Hamas seized control in Gaza. They speak with him through (telephone) is connected between them.

Life in prison

Within the prison, Hassan life is very difficult; He suffers from severe pain in his back, and he is not allowed to receive treatment or disclosure of a doctor, and often the soldiers deprive him from the food. They put him in (solitary confinement) since December 2007 until the time of writing these lines in the 9 months in 2008, almost 9 full months.

In spite of all attempts of the Zionist entity to fade his ambition, Hassan became more patient and his hope to be liberated had increased.
