Eighth anniversary of releasing 20 Palestinian female prisoners

Al Qassam website - Eighth years ago, Al Qassam Brigades succeeded to free 20 Palestinian female prisoners from Israeli prisons in return for a minute-long videotape for the Israeli captured soldier Gilad Shalit.

The videotape was the first image of Shalit released since his capture in June 2006.

The eighteen female Palestinian prisoners were released at Bitunia Checkpoint. They crossed into the West Bank where they were received by their families.

Another female Palestinian prisoner included in the videotape deal was released into the Gaza Strip after being transported to Erez crossing in a UN convoy.

On 18 October 2011, Shalit was released in an exchange deal in return for 1000 Palestinian perisoner.
