Mustafa Ahmed Abdel Hameed Al-Astal was born to a modest family lives in Khan Younis city. He was the second child for his parents, and he was a calm baby not naughty like others. His parents taught him the Quran and the Sonna, so he rose on Islamic virtues.


As usual, he moved between different schools during his elementary and preparatory grades. After having the secondary certificate, he joined the faculty of Shareaa in the Islamic university. After that he continued to prepare for the master degree in his field, but the arrest cut the way of his study.


The prisoner Abu Muaath was very obedient to his parents; he did everything to satisfy them. He was lovely with his brothers and kind with his relatives; he used to visit them usually. With his friends, he was indeed loyal.


Arrest charges:


On January 21st, 2002, while Mustafa was in Al-Mawasi region in Khan Younis in a special task, the whole area was surrounded and he was arrested. He has been in prison for seven years and he is 32 years old.


The Zionist court accused Abu Muaath with different charges as:


  •  Belonging to Hamas movement and the Islamic Bloc.
  •  Working in the rows of Al-Qassam Brigades.
  •  Preparing and participating in a martyrdom operation during which he was arrested.


After three years of arrest, exactly in 2005, Mustafa was sentenced to imprisonment for 17 years.




He was transferred between the Zionist jails. He started from Ashkelon, then Nafha where he stills till now. He suffers, as all prisoners, from a very bad treatment as well as the solitary detention.


Despite the long period in prison, Mustafas family visited him just five times, and the Zionist entity excuses by security reasons.
